In this ongoing series we present an accessible and thematic starting list for each of the 18 Space Marine Legions. Each list utilizes the Age of Darkness starter set as a foundation from which to build a 2,000 point list using as few additional components as possible from readily available official plastic kits.

To build this force yourself you’ll need:

1 Age of Darkness Starter Set
1 Heavy Weapons Upgrade Set – Volkite Culverins, Lascannons, and Autocannons

In this instalment of our Starter Series we turn our attention to the unrepentant uh…sensualists of the Emperor’s Children. Obsessed with perfection and sensate indulgence, the Emperor’s Children were among the first of the traitors to fall fully and very obviously to the lures of Chaos and Slaanesh in particular. Their two unique rites of war are essentially impossible to build out of the Age of Darkness starter, so once more we turn to the trusty Pride of the Legion rite. As usual in these Starter based armies your dreadnought and spartan provide some of your heaviest hitting units, but in this case you’ll pack an extra punch with a 5-man Heavy Support Squad armed with Lascannons! They probably won’t survive long but they’re going to either draw fire away from your dreadnought for a turn or perhaps survive to do some serious damage, especially if you win initiative on the first round.

These upgrades do make your units a little pricier, which has the benefit of meaning that beyond the Age of Darkness starter all you’ll need to buy is the Lascannon weapons kit! You’ll also have the power sword Praetor model and 5 standard marines unused but you’ll probably just want to build them as 5 more heavy support lascannon dudes for when you’re ready to move beyond 2k games.
